SnT renews its Paperjam Club membership. Introduction in three questions.

Ms Homolko, could you please, in a few words, describe for us your company’s activity?

“In a world where radical advances in technology occur at the blink of an eye, we place emphasis on security. Nine years ago, the University identified the crucial role that information and communication technologies (ICT) would hold in the future and so, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) was born. Our mission? To fuel Luxembourg’s innovation system by building human capital, providing world-class research, and establishing close ties between industry and education. Our secret formula has three elements. First, we focus our Research & Development (R&D) activities on solving current or anticipated challenges in the public and private sector – this gives our research partners a competitive edge. Second, we promote entrepreneurship: SnT helps transfer new, in-house developed technologies onto the market yielding – you guessed it – brand new spin-offs. But all this wouldn’t be possible without our main, third ingredient: exceptionally talented researchers.

You have just joined the Paperjam Club. What convinced you to do so?

“Fate. Just kidding, we carefully looked at this opportunity and chose to join for a couple of reasons. Paperjam Business Club is the largest industry network in Luxembourg, and as we strive to partner up with key actors in the public and private sector, it was almost a natural step for us. Thanks to the variety of workshops and conferences on the menu, we knew we’d be investing in our main capital: our people. And last but not least, we wanted to leverage the international, human angle. Our staff is as diverse as they get! So having the opportunity to network, learn and engage with an international community of professionals, and doing this offline is the cherry on top. It’s important to take the conversation beyond the virtual space and connect with others face to face once in a while.

What in particular are you looking to get from the Club? And what does your organisation have to offer to other Club members?

“We’re looking to network, create, and learn – in that order. We strive to be more involved in the Luxembourgish ecosystem. To do that, we need to put ourselves out there: meet other professionals, get to know different business areas, and find ways to collaborate with each other. ICT is truly ubiquitous, so we’re confident we’ll have an overlap with many (if not all!) Paperjam Club members. Gaining perspective is the name of the game when it comes to innovating solutions!

Once the conversation is flowing, we can begin to create. Getting to know other companies might lead to new partnerships. Meeting new professionals might fuel career mobility. Sharing our expertise can create new knowledge and help other professionals have a lightbulb moment.

Finally, we want to learn. From workshops, of course. But also from the plethora of events organised by the Club, the different publications that diligently show up in our mailboxes, and last but not least – from you, other Club members.”
