For those who have recovered from the previous night’s shenanigans, the Irish Club of Luxembourg is hosting a screening of Stephen Burke’s film “Maze” on 18 March.

“Maze”, starring Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Barry Ward and Martin McCann, is a tense, and intriguing drama. It is inspired by the i1983 prison breakout of 38 IRA prisoners from the Maze prison in Northern Ireland, which was to become the biggest prison escape in Europe since World War II. This adaptation of the true story features the tensions within the prison, as well as portraying the human side of people who on initial inspection appear to be on different sides of the bars (and the political divide).

"Maze" had its world premier at last year's Galway Film Fleadh. The film’s prison scenes were mostly shot at Cork prison, which had been closed down just weeks before shooting began.

Tickets for the 5 p.m. screening on Sunday 18 March at the Cinémathèque can be booked here.

The event is co-organised with G-Media, which runs the annual British & Irish Film Season (BIFS) and with the support of the Embassy of Ireland in Luxembourg.
